MUSCAT — Some 70 senior executives are taking part in a three-day conference of Arab mobile phone operators that began in Salalah on Tuesday.
The meeting will cover a host of issues concerning mobile telecommunications in the region and provide a forum to discuss the latest technologies in the field.
Currently, there are 46 GSM operators in 21 countries providing mobile services to more than 130 million subscribers in the Middle East, according to Bishir Muhanna, head of Arab GSM Operators Group. "By organising this conference," a spokesman for Omantel, which is hosting the event, said, "we seek to get acquainted with the latest technologies and services in the field."
